FRAMINGHAM - Robinsons Hardware will be closing both its Framingham and Hudson stores “before January 1,” I was told by phone this morning. News of the stores’ closing was first reported by Mary Kate Feeney in her The Ham’er newsletter yesterday.

“Warm weather, Lowe’s, and the economy” eventually did the store in, the spokesperson told me. “We have to stop the bleeding.”

How long the stores remain open depends on how long stock remains.

Robinsons began in Hudson in 1874 and expanded to the Pinefield shopping center in the Saxonville section of Framingham in 2003.
