Farm Fiber Day This Sunday in Wayland

Dozens of vendors are expected at the March 3 Wayland Winter Farm Fiber Day from 10:30 am to 3 pm. Also Sunday in Saxonville: A celebration of the works of poet Mary Oliver.

Knitters, crocheters, and other fiber craft and product lovers, take note: 57 fiber vendors are expected at this weekend’s Wayland Winter Farm Fiber Day on Sunday, March 3, 10:30 am to 3 pm at Russell’s Garden Center.

“Look for yarn, roving, fleeces, spinning fiber, and finished items, sheep and bunnies, spinning on wheels and drop spindles, and sock making machine demonstrations,” according to the event announcement. There will also be 13 food and beverage vendors. Live sheep will be there from both Prado de Lana Farm in Stockbridge and Pillar House Farm in Lincoln.

Vendors will be outside in covered areas, in greenhouses, in tents, and indoors in the lower level of the garden center.

The regular weekly winter market is on Saturday from 10:30 am to 2 pm.

Russell’s is at 397 Boston Post Road across from the Wayland Town Center shopping area (with Stop & Shop) and just west of Pelham Island Road.

Also Sunday, at Open Spirit in Saxonville and on Zoom: One Wild and Precious Life - A Celebration of the Poetry of Mary Oliver. From 2 to 4 pm there will be a presentation of some of her poems. Attendees are encouraged to bring one of your favorite Mary Oliver poems to share or to tell a story about her influence on you. There will also be time to write.
