For those without access to an air conditioned indoor space, the McAuliffe Library at 746 Water St. in District 2 has been activated as a public cooling center today until 9 p.m.

The main library at 49 Lexington St. downtown is also open as a cooling center until 9 p.m., and the Callahan Center at 535 Union Ave. until 4:30 p.m. The city says sorry but pets aren’t allowed indoors in those spaces.

Framingham public schools are having an early release day today because of the heat – the high school will be letting out at 10:45 am, Cameron Middle School at 11:40; and King, Stapleton, and Potter Road elementary schools at 12:55 pm. All afternoon and evening school activities have been cancelled, including athletics, late buses, and extended day.
