Wednesday, May 3, 6:30 to 8:30 pm: National Weather Service SKYWARN Weather Spotter Training for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing at the Learning Center for the Deaf campus at 848 Central Street. There will be ASL interpreters present from the MA Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Topics will include NWS warnings and watches, proper reporting techniques, and how to safely spot severe storms. Tuesday, May 9, 7:00 pm: Friends of Saxonville (FOS) hosts Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky at a community meeting, followed by the FOS annual meeting. All are welcome, and refreshments will be served.
Among the topics Mayor Sisitsky is expected to discuss: restoration of the Athenaeum Hall, renewal of McGrath Square, and plans to make the Carol Getchell Nature Trail more accessible. The meeting will be held at Open Spirit Hall on the Edwards Church Campus, 39 Edwards St., off Elm Street near the Stapleton School.
May 8-14: Trillium Week, Garden in the Woods, 180 Hemenway Road to “celebrate the beauty and variety of Trilliums at the Garden. Events include drop-in tours May 10 and 12 at 11 am and May 13 and 14 at 2 pm, and a registration-required”Twilight Trilliums” event with live music on May 12 from 6 to 8 pm.
Admission to all events except Twilight Trilliums is free for members and $16 for adults/$12 for students and those 65+ / $6 for youth ages 5 to 17. The library has discount passes to the Garden, but they must be picked up and returned at the main library downtown. Admission to Twilight Trilliums is $30 for members / $36 non-members.
