FRAMINGHAM – This year’s group visits to the city’s historic veterans memorial sites around the city will take place on Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11, and will include services at Cpl. James J. McGrath Square in Saxonville (9:45 am near Danforth and Concord Streets) and Sgt. Malen W. Barker Memorial (10:30 am at 1 School Street). There will also be a stop for refreshments at Rousseau Garage (10 am, 1 School Street).
Those wishing to visit all the sites should meet behind the Memorial Building at 7:45 am for departure at 8 am. The event is sponsored by local veterans.
The city’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony will be downtown starting 11:11 am at Veterans Memorial Park (Concord Street and Guadalcanal Road). In case of bad weather, the event will be moved inside to Cushing Memorial Chapel at Cushing Memorial Park. The keynote speaker will be Lt. Col. Dennis B. Ford. His military career spanned more than 30 years during which he won numerous commendations. His career included work at Natick Labs and multiple deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere.
A full schedule of that ceremony is posted on the city website.
